One can please some people most of the time; one can please most people some of the time, but one cannot please all the people all the time. This applies, especially, to our local councils.
We, the residents of Sliema, have been very fortunate in always having had a mayor and his/her council to look after our interests. They have always done their best for us ever since the local councils were set up.
On the whole, in spite of some inconveniences caused by the building boom, Sliema is today a much better place to live in than it used to be.
At long last Sliema will have residential parking, in line with most other towns and villages in Malta and Gozo. We suffer more than other localities because throughout the year, especially on weekends and public holidays, the whole population of this island tends to converge on Sliema. We have an ageing population and a person spends hours to find a parking space. Sometimes one has to go to a car park, spending several euros.
If sometime in the near future every single town and village has residential parking no one would be in a position to grumble, because we who live in Sliema also have to park our cars when we go to some other town or village.
Well done to the Sliema local council. Keep up the good work.
