This summer, GlobalCapital plc gave students from Lily of the Valley School and the Institute of Business and Commerce at MCAST the opportunity to work closely with the company’s management in order to gain valuable firsthand experience of working in one of the leading financial services company in Malta.

Through the work placements, each student was able to use the knowledge and theory they have studied throughout their academic years and put these into practice. The five students were given the opportunity to delve deeper into the importance of teamwork, company guidelines, company structure, and to work in a productive environment through practical activities. The students were also able to interact with all GlobalCapital employees in order to experience different working attitudes and to gain the valuable knowledge that each employee has to offer.

The students worked closely on the inventory registry of the company. Throughout their four weeks at GlobalCapital they created a new inventory database under the direct supervision of the administration manager.

The two 4th Form students from Lily of the Valley School were assigned to the Investment Section. Throughout their week at GlobalCapital they gained considerable knowledge of the working world through administrative work.

“The students enjoyed every minute of their placement at GlobalCapital, which was able to give them firsthand experience of working in a financial services company. It is sometimes challenging to undergo the transition from a student’s life to a working life. Hopefully, we were able, through this placement, to show students the better side of working and taking on new responsibilities and challenges. We look forward to receiving more students from or through similar organisations and to pass on our knowledge for the benefit of young people,” said Anton Callus, GlobalCapital’s HR Manager.
