Café Premier Refurbishment

Malta Independent Tuesday, 11 August 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Café Premier and the Great Siege of Malta walk-through show have recently opened their doors to the public again after an extensive refurbishment. Café Premier’s unique location beneath the arches of the National Library, right on Republic Square, provides a superb ambiance to enjoy authentic blends of Italian coffee, social lunch, relaxing dinner or pre/post theatre snacks. Café Premier encompasses a Grand Terrace at Valletta’s main square, a Grand Café, Seafood Bar, Tapas Bar and Bistro/Brasserie and offers just the place to be with your friends in Valletta. Its tasteful interior is divided in various areas, offering different foods for different moods.

The Great Siege of Malta walk-through show, next door to Café Premier, is currently in its tenth year and has been thoroughly revised and adapted by Dane Munro, a local historian and Latinist. Now, the event that shaped Malta, is presented in a very different way. More prominence and acknowledgements given to the Maltese population under siege. Educational, informative, entertaining and a touch of humour is a fair summary of the show. The Great Siege walk-through show takes about 25 minutes and is available in various languages.

This week saw the opening of both establishments. First official guest at the Great Siege show were Mr and Mrs Brian Mifsud from Modbury Heights, South Australia. They were very happy to have visited the Great Siege show and were full of praises for the story-telling and the setting of the mannequins.
