The Vodafone Malta Foundation Special Olympics Bowling Team is participating in the National Third Division League which sees 22 weeks of competition.
The competition started on 13 July. At the moment, Special Olympics team is positioned in the third place following their win against the BOV team last Monday. The Swinger team is in second place and Atlas is placed first. The tournament’s highest individual scorer is Special Olympics’ Albert Borg who has scored 150/160/170.
“Our participation in this tournament shows our effort to include the athletes in mixed capability sports competitions. Special Olympics Malta’s bowling team, including Albert Borg, Philip Gruppetta, Bjorn Tabone, John Paul Fenech and others are showing determination and performing to their best abilities. Thanks to this league, they will learn and experience all the rules and disciplines involved with the bowling games. This will also prepare them for the upcoming European and World Games in Poland and Greece in 2010 and 2011,” said Anna Calleja, Special Olympics Malta Director.
The games are held every Monday at 9pm at the Eden Superbowl and everyone is invited to attend and support the Special Olympics team.
