It was a shock and with great sadness that we heard of the death of Paul Vella and we extend our sympathy to his family.
It only seems like yesterday when Paul knocked on the doors of Sliema HQ and told me that he had just returned from the UK where he had spent some time with the Basingstoke Scout Group. Now that he was back in Malta he would like to carry on serving the Scout Movement here. Paul was full of energy and had many creative ideas. He was a true leader to many youngsters both here and in the UK and his lively participation in camps and campfires was memorable.
The Scout Association of Malta benefitted greatly from his experience. He was a member of the committee set up to study the introduction of co-ed to the Scout Movement and he also sat on the Scout Council. He was always a front liner and his energy and enthusiasm was an inspiration to those who worked with him.
Paul will be greatly missed and the Movement passes on their deepest sympathies to his wife and his daughter Martina. In a true Scouting way we say that Paul has ‘Gone Home’, but we are sure he will be overlooking his family and friends for years to come.
