Rumours spreading around yesterday that Valletta or Sliema were about to sign Malta striker Michael Mifsud were quickly quashed by the presidents of both clubs.
The Malta Independent contacted the two respective club presidents who both denied that they were going to sign Mifsud.
City president Victor Sciriha said there was no truth in rumours that the player was to be included among the squad which was presented to the fans yesterday evening at the Salinos Ground.
He added that it was true that there had been contacts but made it clear that no agreement on terms had been reached. He added that Valletta were happy with their squad.
Steve Abela, Sliema Wanderers president, also denied that Sliema were interested in signing their former player. "I know nothing about this rumour. If anything, I would have been the first to know of any move involving Mifsud and Sliema W. What I can tell you is that our local transfer campaign can be considered closed at present and we have no intention of increasing our squad, except, perhaps, for some foreign player."Rumours spreading around yesterday that Valletta or Sliema were about to sign Malta striker Michael Mifsud were quickly quashed by the presidents of both clubs.
