A committee has been appointed to put up a monument to sculptor Anton Agius, who died last October aged 74. It is chaired by Sandro Craus who told a news conference the bronze monument would be cast at Massimo del Chiaro foundry of Pietrasanta, Italy, with whom Agius worked closely. It will be based on a design by one of Agius’ students, Joseph Scerri.
The monument will be put up at Rabat, where Agius lived. The committee is seeking a major sponsor and is hoping that residents of Rabat, other residents and organisations will contribute.
