A presentation ceremony to mark the various achievements by members of the Malta Tenpin Bowling Association for the year to date was held recently during a lavish banquet at the InterContinental Hotel.
It was largely related to the recently concluded Middlesea Valletta Life National Leagues, but also incorporating the various other competitions organised by the MTBA at the Eden SuperBowl.
The major honours for the first of the year’s two Middlesea Valletta Life league seasons went to Ramis, who scooped the Division I title to be declared Champions after a 19-week campaign, hotly contested between themselves and arch rivals Fina First who finished second.
Third place in the top flight went to Turu’s Knights. Present to collect the championship trophies were Ramis regulars; Rankin Camilleri, Kenneth Arpa, Dennis Mercieca, John Balani and Paul Baldacchino – who are pictured with Ms. Joanna Azzopardi, who presented the trophies on behalf of league sponsors, Middlesea Valletta Life.

InterContinental prize for KO winners - Fina First
On conclusion of the league season, the MTBA Knock Out competition was organised wherein teams from all three divisions competed against each other.
After all teams competed in a three-game preliminary qualifier, they were then paired according to position to play best-of-three Knock Out matches.
From a total of 12 starters, the event came down to just two teams, Fina First and PharmaVet who met in the Knock-Out final.
The clash went to the third game but ultimately it was Fina First who prevailed 2–1, to walk off with the MTBA Knock-Out Shield, and also complimentary stays for all at the InterContinental Hotel who sponsored the grand prize.
