Licking Her own poison

Malta Independent Sunday, 23 August 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 18 years ago

Under the title “Inappropriate heading” (TMIS, 16 August), Lesley Kreupl tried hard to lick her own venomous poison when, to begin with, she attributed the heading of her first letter, “I would poison Mr Calleja” (TMIS, 2 August), to the editor. If this is true, I think the editor lifted this title from her own letter. She cannot deny that she used those specific words in her letter.

I can tell Mrs Kreupl that I insisted on the above heading so that I could not accuse the editor of putting in “an inappropriate heading”.

Further down in her letter, Mrs Kreupl tried to ridicule her own writing by saying that she did not really mean her own words literally. But she did not hide that sometimes “she” gets really defensive and bitchy, wishing nasty things on some folks.

Mrs Kreupl may I tell you one other thing. Mr Calleja surely does not need any “molly-coddling” from any of us. He is also not sorry for not being invited to dinner by you, as I presume he is well looked after by his own family and his many true friends.

Mrs Kreupl is so proud of possessing good English that she tried to belittle us for our ignorance of the English language by saying that we misunderstood her. We understood every word she wrote!

Mrs Kreupl must surely know that people from Ireland and Scotland are not renowned for their good English. In fact, they have their own dialect and accent and hate to be called “English”. Maybe her good English came from her 35 years of marriage to an Austrian!!

At the end of her reply she could not hide her true self by calling us “racist, bitter old equine posterior”. This is what one expects from “a happy caring old cow”.
