Gharb
Between 27 August and 1 September, Gharb local council will be hosting delegations from Comunita' Collinare Colli Tortonesi and Veglie. Both localities will be visiting Gharb for the first time to sign a new twinning agreement. This twinning event is funded by the European Union under the Europe for Citizens Programme.
Comunita' Collinare Colli Tortonesi is a community of 10 local councils found in Piemonte, Italy. The local councils representing the Comunita' are: Carbonara Srivia, Carezzano, Gavazzana, Paderna, Sardigliano, Sarezzano, Spineto Scrivia, Villalvernia, Villaromagnano and Volpedo.
Gharb Day Celebrations will be spread over three days. On Friday, 28 August a welcome dinner serving local cuisine will be held at Pjazza Zjara tal-Madonna with the participation of the Gharb community and guests from the invited towns.
The aim of this activity is to engage all citizens from each invited town and have them feel at ease and welcomed. Moreover it will serve as an 'ice-breaker' for participants to get to know each other in an informal and entertaining manner. The entertainment will feature folk singing by the Ghaqda Folkloristika tal-Qiegha.
The signing of the twinning agreement will take place on Saturday, 29 August, during the Gharb Day Activities. An exhibition featuring typical Gozitan products varying from gastronomical products to hand made / crafts will be setup for the occasion.
The invited delegations will also participate in this exhibition with their local typical products, preparation of traditional dishes and demonstrations of their traditional costumes.
Celebrations continue on Sunday, 30 August in the morning where a sports event will be organized at Gharb main square where recreational activities such as a football match and traditional games will be exchanged.
Mellieha
Mellieha local council will be organizing a Musical Concert 'Cantiamo' on Thursday, 27 August, 2009, dedicated to Mellieha emigrants.
This concert will be held at the Mellieha Sanctuary courtyard from 8pm. Soprano Andriana Fenech Yordanova, Tenor Brian Cefai and the Choral and Orchestral Society 'Maria Bambina' will be taking part in this concert.
Mosta
On 4 September, Mosta local council will be organizing a Notte Bianca in the centre of the town.
The activity will start at 6pm. There will be a section for people of all ages - tombla, sports activites, folklore music, ghana, drama, dancing, country music and games for children.
This is a family outing that everybody can enjoy.
All the shops will open till 11pm so that people can enjoy the atmosphere till late.

QRENDI
In accordance with section 70 of the Local Councils Act (Cap. 363), an annual public meeting will be held on Thursday, 3 September at the Local Council Administrative Office, 7, Church Street, Qrendi, at 6pm.
All the residents who are listed in the latest Qrendi Local Council Registry are encouraged to attend the meeting and take part in the discussions.
The residents attending for the meeting will have time to make their suggestions for the consideration of the local council.
