Warriors Kickboxing Club Students successful at grading examination

Malta Independent Monday, 24 August 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

The Warriors Kickboxing Club held its student grading examination recently at its training headquarters at Gzira boys secondary school.

Master Julian Lee Ritchie, 5th Dan Black belt, explained to his students that there is no limit in kickboxing. Hence the more effort one puts in, the better the result one obtains.

It was also pointed out that some students have the wrong assumption when it is thought that the final step in achieving their goal is advancing to Black Belt grade.

It is also a pity that certain clubs are not equipped with advanced programmes in favour of Black Belt holders.

Julian also stated that the newcomers join the training sessions for various reasons such as to keep fit, for weight loss, for self-discipline, self-defence and as a sport - Kickboxing.

But he adds that the ideal student would be the one who learns to listen attentively, has respect for himself and for others and is aware of his own potential and limitations.

Three advanced students that have successfully graded to brown belts are Cherie Ritchie (Julian Lee’s daughter), Jeanette Spiteri, and Kevin Attard. The following are the students who have successfully graded to higher belt:

Yellow Belt- Mark Briffa.

Orange Belt- Bruce Lee Ciangura, Brandon Lee Ciangura, Brandon Lee Schembri, Marie Claire Fonk, Richard Bongalais, Ylenia Xuereb.

Green Belt- Andrea Borg, Trevor Mifsud, Christine Spiteri.

Blue Belt- Mavrik Everest, Anouchka Horzella, Vicky Cassar Torreggiani.

Purple Belt- Robert Schembri, Anthony Farrugia.

Red belt- Stacey Saliba, Neville Farrugia.

Brown Belt- Cherie Ritchie, Kevin Attard, Jeanette Spiteri.

The Warriors Kickboxing Club is holding sessions twice a week . All those interested may call on 99870413.
