I’m writing in reply to Deborah Duberry’s letter How the Maltese treat animals (TMID, 22 August). Here in Australia, a puppy had its ears cut off with a pair of scissors. Another set on fire.

In other countries trees are cut down to bring the animals down to cage for tourists.

Dolphins, whales are slaughtered in the name of “science”. Shall I go on?

Surely animal cruelty exists in the UK and all around the world. “Let he who is free of sin, cast the first stone”.
