I found it refreshing to read the present Cana Movement Director, Rev. Dr Joseph Mizzi, reiterating that the Cana Movement’s ideals have not changed (TMID, 25 August) and I fully support him and these ideals.

I can guess the canonical injunction for setting an age limit on Bishops. After crossing this threshold they are barred from administering or acting as the authoritative teacher in the diocese, which should be heeded by well meaning but misguided monsignors, professors, friars or whatever. The local ones, some of whom seem more keen to please their political sponsors rather than adhere to the unchanging Magisterial teaching, will no doubt go down in history as those “hired” clerics yes-men to the civil power current at the time of Henry VIII and other European despots of his ilk and era.
