The Malta Shooting Sport Federation organised The All Malta Trap competition this weekend at the Bidnija ranges on 125 clays with the best six shooters qualifying for a barrage final of another 25 clays.
Frans Pace (photo) was the overall winner of this prestigious trophy for the ninth time. He managed 22, 22 and 23 on Saturday and 24 and 24 on Sunday for a total of 115. In the barrage finals, he scored 21 out of 25 single barrel shots to take the lead with 136 out of 150.
Jason J. Aquilina had an equal score of 115 until the finals where he scored 20 out of 25, to finish second with 135/150.
Jeff Tonna placed third overall with 113 and 19 in the barrage finals, for a total of 132.
Stanley Cardona placed fourth, with 111+20=131
The results of the A, B and C categories were:
Class A 1 Frans Pace 115, 2 Jason J.Aquilina 115, 3 Jeff Tonna 113.
Class B 1 Stephen Vella 111, 2 Emmanuel Attard 111, 3 Darren Xuereb 109.
Class C 1 Joe Zammit 99, 2 Jimmy Farrugia 98, 3 Charlie Fenech 97.
One straight of 25 was registered during this competition by Lino Galea on Saturday.
This was the last selection shoot to determine the Trap shooters to compete in The European Commonwealth Shooting Championships to be held in The Isle of Man on the last week of September.
