The Malta Amateur Athletics Association has won its bid to host the 2010 European Team Championship (3rd League) in Malta.

Writing in the monthly newsletter of the MAAA, Anthony Chircop, the association's president, said he had been informed of the decision by the European Athletics Association which had approved the budget as laid out by the MAAA for the event.

The president also revealed that the association will soon be signing a notarial deed whereby the Marsa track at the Micallef St John Stadium will be transferred to the MAAA in the next few days.

Chircop said the news made the Maltese athletics family very happy. "It is something which brings a lot of work and responsibility on the MAAA Council," he said.
