Your back page article by Stephen Calleja was, in my opinion, a biased and “hidden agenda” piece (TMIS, 6 September).

To state that, because truth had triumphed and Mepa reversed its own wrong decision, entrepreneurs are having second thoughts and not undertaking projects, makes one think. Are we are in some banana republic, or have the dark old days rolled back?

But what is much worse is that Stephen Calleja, ex-Malta Independent editor, is giving weight to his “sources’” expectations that the PN intervene to ensure the approval of questionable projects of its official or supporters for the wrongdoing, if any, of its president in his private capacity.

This article is full of fleeting statements and assumes that “developers” have some God-given right to ruin the environment, without a word of protest from any individual or organisation to safeguard our common heritage.

The more you read the article, the more it becomes apparent that the references to anonymous “sources” should have been replaced by “speculators” that are ready to “prostitute” our country, their way of getting the economy back on track!

Perhaps Mr Calleja should consult his own colleague, Elaine Attard, whose excellent article on page 4 of the same date shows how “virgin” land at Tad-Dib, Mosta is to be raped by “developers”.

Further comment is unnecessary.
