Notts County boss Ian McParland has confirmed his interest in signing Malta striker Michael Mifsud.
The former Sliema W., Kaiserslautern, Lilletrom, Coventry City and Barnsley striker is also a reported target of Sheffield United, Leeds and Charlton.
The 28-year-old Malta international striker is a free agent having left Championship outfit Coventry at the end of last season.
Mifsud, who has been approached by a host of clubs in England, has reportedly turned down contract offers from Turkish side Ankaragucu and Greek outfit Larissa.
McParland has denied making an offer to Mifsud, who ended last season on loan at Barnsley.
“I know he’s available and he would be a good addition to our squad, but let’s wait and see,” he was quoted as telling the Nottingham Evening Post.
If Mifsud accepts a move to Meadow Lane, he will become the latest high-profile signing for the club following the recent captures of Sol Campbell and Kasper Schmeichel.
While McParland is the manager, the technical director is former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson of Sweden.
