A man was yesterday jailed for six months and fined e467 after being found guilty of cultivating cannabis plant and being in possession of cannabis resin.
Colin Vassallo, 33, of Siggiewi, was found to be in possession of the drug in his brother’s room at the residence where the accused lived, following a road block which resulted in the finding of a joint. At first Vassallo told Superintendent Norbert Ciappara that he was responsible for the drug but later denied the claim and blamed his brother for the drug.
However, he took responsibility for the roach and in a statement to the police he said that he had been using cannabis grass or resin since he was 14.The case took place in 1999 when the accused was 26. The court was presided over by Magistrate Lawrence Quintano.
