The Court of Appeal, presided over by Chief Justice Vincent de Gaetano, last week turned down an appeal by Garden of Eden Ltd and declared the company bankrupt. The court also decided that the liquidator must present a report on the state of the company within three months.

The company faced a £147,314 bill confirmed by the Central London County Court in February 2005, which was made executable by a final decision of the Maltese Appeals Court in March 2007. Twenty-four weeks after that judgement, the money had not been paid, so the court ordered that the company be declared bankrupt.
