Environmentalists’ Hidden agenda

Malta Independent Sunday, 20 September 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

I would like to reply to Stephen Calleja. He asks, “Is there a hidden agenda when environmentalists’ comments are published?” What a silly question for someone who obviously has some form of intelligence. The agenda of all environmentalists is perfectly open Stephen; it is to protect the environment. If that means attacking developers, architects or government ministers who by their actions are destroying the environment for no other reason than to profit by it, then so be it.

I can also say Stephen that I write what I think under my own name. The various environmental groups write what they think under their own names. Now you may put down what these people say as comments rather than hard news, but when you write in the paper and state that you are “quoting sources” in what way does that differ from a simple comment? From my own personal point of view, I have no respect for people who write under assumed names or quote unnamed sources. If these so-called sources don’t have the courage to stand by what they say then their words are meaningless.
