I refer to Christopher Sultana’s article entitled “PBS winter schedule leaked to PL prematurely” (TMIS, 27 September).

On behalf of our company, I would like to refer to the last sentence that reads, “Mr Bundy had taken his previous producers, DeeMedia, to court a few days ago and had won his case”.

I would like to state that this particular statement is totally incorrect because in reality the truth and facts are indeed very different.

Mr Bundy did not take DeeMedia.tv to court on any issue. Indeed he had all the opportunity to do so when his services with our company were suspended and finally discontinued last April. He did not do so then and furthermore, he did not do so over the last month in connection with a further issue related to the use of the word “Bongu” in his new Breakfast Show to be called “Bongu Bundy”, which starts on One Television tomorrow. In fact, it was our company who instituted proceedings against him (as well as against the particular production house and the TV station) for using the word “Bongu” in the title of the breakfast show to be produced on One TV. Indeed, and to our total surprise, this case was lost.

It also remains very clear that we still need to set the record straight in connection with the original and key issue between Mr Bundy and DeeMedia.tv, since the message in connection with this saga has clearly not got through in the local press.

The facts and the truth are as follows. Last March the contract of service between our company and Mr Bundy, as the presenter of our “Bongu” TV production, was “suspended until he clarified his position”. He did not do so and the company had no option but to terminate his services.

The major issue and concern came to light a couple of weeks after he had again agreed to continue working with our company on the fourth series of “Bongu”. He participated and contributed to the standard production meeting prior to the company finalising its application, besides taking a full part in the demo DVD production that clearly showed him also saying that he would be presenting the forthcoming October 09 production of “Bongu”. This DVD was included in this same PBS application. This permitted DeeMedia.tv to reapply for the same Breakfast Show with Mr Bundy again as the presenter for the current October – June 2010 schedule on TVM.

However, and this is what was and remains unacceptable, he did so while also allowing his name to be included as the presenter in another application for the same Breakfast Show on TVM together with another competing production house – and all this without informing us of his intentions. He therefore had a very clear conflict of interest. In fact we had already documented the full facts of the case in our judicial protest against Mr Bundy registered last May. This remained unanswered. He had clearly taken abusive and illegal advantage of his role as the presenter in our show in a very unethical manner. Indeed, when we confronted Mr Bundy after the Editorial Board of PBS had informed us of his actions and position, he categorically denied having done so! He was then asked to clarify his position on a number of occasions over that fateful weekend, but since he preferred and clearly could not do so, his services were discontinued. This was the major issue between Mr Bundy and DeeMedia.tv – although there were a number of other unfortunate and unacceptable incidents during the course of our business relationship over the years.

We now hope that this latest unfortunate and regrettable experience is considered closed thereby allowing our company to concentrate on what it knows best, namely the creation of high-quality productions for local television. We too have struggled hard over the years to build a strong work ethic together with an admirable business standing, and this in a very competitive industry. We will therefore never allow anyone to distort the truth or indeed try and tarnish our reputation or credibility.
