I make reference to the article entitled “PBS winter schedule leaked to PL prematurely” (TMIS, 27 September)
While not entering into the merits of the first part of the article dealing with the alleged leak mentioned in the same title, 26th frame and its presenter John Bundy are mentioned in the same article and a number of clarifications are warranted.
First and foremost it is imperative to underline that the photograph of John Bundy, as producer and presenter of “Bongu Bundy” that accompanies the article is misleading since it links the photograph to the article’s title.
The article states:” It is not known whether Mr Bundy and the media house producing his new breakfast show, 26th Frame, were approached by the PL to transfer the popular show to One TV.” It is important to note that both 26th frame and Mr Bundy have transferred the show to One Television after Public Broadcasting Services Limited (PBS) did not accept their submission for the programme Bongu Bundy to be aired on the national station. Hence it is incorrect to state or insinuate that either or were approached by the PL.
The article continues that “Mr Bundy had taken his previous producers, Dee Media, to court a few days ago and had won his case.” This statement again is incorrect since it was Dee Media who filed a request in court for the issue of a warrant of prohibitory injunction against 26th frame, Mr Bundy and One Productions Limited in order to prohibit them from using the word “Bongu” in the programme title “Bongu Bundy”. The same court turned down this request on 17 September since it found against Dee Media, saying that the names of 26th frame’s programme and that by Dee Media TV were evidently different.
