Specific Criticism

TMID, 2 October). He has no right, however, to imply that my opinions are motivated by any potential gain I can make.

Furthermore, your contributor says nothing about the specific criticism I made regarding the state of neglect on our Main Street and uses arguments which are totally extraneous to the subject matter of the article. My opinions regarding the general unpopularity of this administration are supported by independently conducted surveys. So while opinions are not facts, researched opinions are no fantasy either.

Your contributor is entitled to think that this general sense of despair will be made good in the run-up to the next election. The experience of 2008 shows that the PN only edged past the PL on the finishing line by the skin of their nose only thanks to the lack of electability of the former PL leader. This advantage has now gone.

But, as they say, a week is a long time in politics.
