Inter Extend lead

Malta Independent Friday, 30 October 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 17 years ago

Italian champions Inter extended their lead to four points on top of the Serie A, when they beat Palermo 5-2 in a high scoring match.

The match looked dead and buried after the first half as an impressive Inter side scored four goals in a one way traffic affair.

But Zenga’s Palermo had other ideas as they stunned their opponents with three second half goals to open up the issue, but substitute Milito killed the Sicilians’ hopes with the fifth goal after some fine work by Maicon.

Samuel Eto’o, who limped off in the second half scored a brace, the first one from the penalty spot, and Mario Balotelli scored the other two goals in Inter’s devastating first half.

Miccoli scored two goals in Palermo’s partial comeback, with the other goal coming from Hernandez.
