Third Division side Naxxar Lions went into the 4th round of the competition winning a thrilling encounter against Zejtun Corinthains 3-2.

The Lions scored through Darren Falzon after 18 minutes but Zejtun deservingly equalised with a Kenneth Abela headed goal just before the break.

Naxxar were the better team in the second period but it was not until the 78th minute that they forged ahead with good strike from Darren Falzon.

When Zejtun’s defender Jason Cachia fouled Magri on his way towards goal, he was sent off and from the resultant free kick, Gilbert Camilleri made it 3-1.

Zejtun reduced the arrears in the late stages through Carmel Formosa but that was too little too late to deny Naxxar a win
