Some 40 of the over 80 persons who applied for the chance to form part of EasyJet’s cabin crew went through an evaluation process yesterday.

The Employment Training Corporation (ETC) received a request from EasyJet to employ a number of Maltese cabin crew, and this fact was advertised for three weeks on the newspapers and on the ETC website.

Over 80 persons applied for this chance, according to Raphael Scerri, senior manager with ETC, and after the pre-selection process some 40 of these were chosen for further assessment.

Over the course of yesterday the 40 who were chosen underwent a number of individual and group assessments, as well as interviews towards the end of the day. The plan, Mr Scerri said, was to have more such processes if the response was good.

If anyone is interested, he said, there might be another recruitment drive. “So far it seemed that they were happy with the quality of the applicants, although another drive depended on the outcome.”
