Six More matches this weekend

Malta Independent Saturday, 5 December 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

There is yet another stoppage for the Bank of Valletta Premier League this weekend.

No matches are being played so that the fourth round of the National League Anniversary Cup is staged with the exception of one match (to be played next Wednesday).

The programme started with yesterday’s matches. It continues today with two more matches at the Ta’ Qali Stadium where Sliema play against St Patrick and Hibernians face Marsaxlokk.

Tomorrow there will be four matches. At the Hibs Ground in the afternoon, Floriana will be facing Melita to be quickly followed by the match between Balzan and Tarxien R.

Also tomorrow, but at the Victor Tedesco Stadium in the morning, Gharghur come up against Mosta while Mellieha take on Hamrun Spartans.

The most expected match is certainly that being played today between Hibernians and Marsalxokk where the champions could expect a very stiff test by the first division outfit.

The southern seasiders are, in fact, considered to be of Premier stuff, considering that they started the season in the Premier League. They have already eliminated Birkirkara from the competition.

In all the other matches, especially those involving Premier League sides against teams from the lower divisions, the top clubs are expected to emerge triumphant to advnace to the next round.
