The Life of Domenico Savio

Malta Independent Sunday, 6 December 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Atturi Salesjani will present the drama Domenico Savio, the story of an Italian who was the first youth from the Oratory of Don Bosco to become a saint. Paul De Bono, who also wrote the script, will be directing this production, which will be staged on Saturday 12 at 7.30pm and Sunday 13 December at 6.30pm.

This drama will also include live music, singing and dancing. Aldo Polidano composed the music while Fr Eric Cachia Sdb was the songwriter. The choreography is by Pamela Vella, Jeanine Balzan Engerer and Marija Camilleri.

The story is about Domenico Savio and what follows are short scenes, which show us the life of this young boy who died when he was still very young. He liked to make sacrifices, which helped his friends not to fall into temptation or sin. He was an intelligent boy and this enabled him to have the first Holy Communion at a very young age. During his short life he made several resolutions, which helped him become the role model for all young boys. One of the most popular was "Better to die than to sin". Unfortunately he became ill at a young age and this prevented Don Bosco from putting into action his plans. Apparently God had other plans for him.

This is another great production from Atturi Salesjani which should not be missed. Among other actors are Sandro Pecorella, Rina Camilleri, Nicolai Azzopardi, Joe Camilleri, Amanda Cachia, Emmanuel Bonavia, Kenneth Terribile, Sandra Maresca and Simone Attard.

Booking is now open by calling on 2131 3044, 9949 1024. There will be free parking on both production dates.
