I was truly disappointed with the comments I read about Malta from the comments made by Jan Weddup about his holiday (TMID 8 December). I do hope the people in Malta do not think that all the British coming to Malta feel the same.

Firstly, he complains about the weather. Whose fault is that? Is it the fault of the people of Malta?

The only person to blame was himself, he could have checked the weather, as I did online, and not come if he thought it was so bad. We had rain and wind during the first few days. It is a fact of life that all countries have bad weather at times.

Boring person at table talking about wine: Malta’s fault? The hiring of the motorbike sums him up, he did everything the cheapest way possible, took no notice of the laws of the country (speed limits) and just looked for the faults, missing the beauty of visiting a different country.

This is my second visit to Malta, 41 years after the first one, and I found the same friendly people, beautiful architecture, good food, good wine (I am told) and weather, which is far better than back home.

Have I got a complaint? Yes, like many others our visit included photographing a part of the rich heritage of Malta – the public transport. So why does the government want to sell it off and get rid of all the old buses? It is a part of the tourist industry: just look at the souvenirs in the shops. There is an old saying: “If it is not broken don't fix it”. Please do not lose such a money-making attraction.
