All external glass apertures in the e180 million Fort Cambridge residential project will be glazed to ensure good solar protection. This environmental friendly measure will result in substantial energy saving especially when air-conditioning is in use. Glazing with solar protection is crucial for the comfort of people living or working in the building.
This was announced by Fort Cambridge chairman George Muscat during the award of the e2.5 million external apertures tender to Framegrip Industries of Mosta Road Lija.
All aluminium apertures at Fort Cambridge project will have Metra Spa profiles, which are considered to have one of the best technologies and quality characteristics in the market. This kind of profile is ideal for sliding doors as it is can withstand heavy structures and ensures smoothness when opening and closing. Furthermore, the aluminium structures will have a flap vent that can be opened and closed for ventilation purposes.
Mr Muscat added: “The investment in environmental friendly measures forms part of our commitment towards ensuring that all the properties are energy saving buildings. When planning Fort Cambridge we gave energy conservation and green polices considerable importance because we believe that this will give all tenants added value. Other energy saving initiatives includes a water-cooled air-conditioning system, as well as the construction of a reservoir underneath the properties which will accumulate water from roofs and terraces to irrigate the surrounding gardens.”
