McDonald’s Malta Donates e22,000 to ‘Dar il-Kaptan’

McDonald’s Malta presented Dar il-Kaptan with a contribution of e22,000. This money was raised during the eight annual McHappy Day programme of fund-raising activities held last month to celebrate World Children’s Day.

McDonald’s Malta marketing manager, Joanna Smith Ellis presented the cheque to Freddie Bezzina, vice chairperson of Dar il-Kaptan.

“The aim of this event was not only to raise funds for Dar il-Kaptan but also to raise awareness on the good work carried out by the team at Dar il-Kaptan. Judging by the huge number of people who participated in the activities, the aim has clearly been reached. On behalf of McDonald’s Malta, we thank everyone involved for their support,” said McDonald’s Marketing Manager, Joanna Smith Ellis.

Mr Bezzina explained that the service they provide offers periodic rest intervals (residential care) to families who continuously care for a member of their family who has a disability. The period could be an overnight, a weekend or a full week’s residential stay. Since Dar il-Kaptan is a non-profit and non-governmental organization, they depend a lot on fund-raising activities and donations. “It has been a tough year for us to cater for all the financial needs but thanks to McDonald’s this year we can end the year on a positive note,” said Mr Bezzina.
