Bay Music Awards – Rise to our frequency

Malta Independent Sunday, 20 December 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

After a spectacular show at the Bay Music Awards at the Bay Arena, six nominees walked away with well-deserved awards. The Army of Music themed event was a stunning success, and added an electric atmosphere to the stage. The huge crowd fervently applauded as the awards were called and beaming winners took the stage to accept the highly regarded honour to be called one of Malta’s best.

To add a younger and fresher dimension, this year the hosts of the show were two of 89.7 Bay’s top DJs: Drew (from Captain Drew’s drive home) and Nathan D (from Bay Beats and Malta’s top 10) who mastered the stage and gave the show a totally new, dynamic aspect.

For the first time, the organisation of the event was handed to Executive Services Ltd, who did an incredible job with the stage, lighting and the overall look of the show. The stage was placed in a different and unexpected place to previous years, which made the 2009 Bay Music Awards a spectacular and truly original show.

The winner of the Best Newcomer saw Red Electrick enter on stage. Best Dance Tune or Remix went to Ira Losco & DJ Ruby, What’s the matter with your cabrio (pictured above) while second time winner Christabelle received Best Solo Artist. Wild applause greeted Airport Impressions who received Best Band and for Best Single winner Christabelle with Everytime I Bleed. A new award this year, the Bay Bands Trophy, went to Beige. The show came to an end with the artists performing the ‘Singing for Bay Kids’ song Running away.

A double CD compilation was launched with proceeds from the sale going to Dar Sagra Familja.

The Bay Music Awards will be aired on TVM on Christmas Day at 3pm. Filmed with 12 cameras, with state-of-the-art graphics, the Bay Music Awards promise to be one of the best broadcasts on TVM. Bay is also uploading new videos on its Youtube channel and also on bay.com.mt

The winner will be announced on the breakfast show, on 89.7 Bay. The SMS voting number is 506 15 300.
