The request by the Attorney General’s office for 33-year-old former boxing champion Scott Dixon to be re-arrested was denied yesterday. Dixon is facing drug charges.
However the request for different bail conditions was granted as his bail deposit was raised to e19,000, from the e15,000 stipulated on 17 December. He is also expected to sign in at the St Julian’s police station twice a day, and must be at home between 7am and 7pm.
Dixon was arraigned in court and charged with being part of a conspiracy to traffic cannabis and cannabis resin, possession of these drugs, and breach of a conditional discharge. He was arrested in the course of an operation which resulted in a drugs find of nearly half a ton of cannabis, which took place on 8 September. He was granted bail on 17 December, under several conditions, against a deposit of e15,000. The conditions included reporting to the St Julian’s police station twice a day and a personal guarantee of e25,000.
