I read John Ebejer’s article entitled Mepa’s Audit Office – What’s next? (TMIS, 20 December) and found it very boring.

I would have expected Mr Ebejer to write about more interesting things. For example, he could write about how he can reconcile his so-called respect for Mepa Audit Officer Joe Falzon with his participation at a meeting intended “to convince” Mr Falzon to change parts of his Annual Report.

Mr Ebejer was acting in his capacity as policy advisor to the then Minister responsible for Rural Affairs and the Environment.

To refresh Mr Ebejer’s memory, may I remind him that, subsequent to the meeting, he presented the views expressed in writing and sent this document to Mepa Audit Officer Mr Falzon. I have seen Mr Ebejer’s three-page document.

Four people were present at the meeting, namely Mr Ebejer and his boss the Minister, as well as Mr Falzon and the undersigned.

Now writing about this would make very interesting reading.
