Bank of Valletta has just issued the fourth edition of its annual CSR report, which highlights the efforts made by the bank during the past financial year in light of its corporate social responsibilities. The bank recognises that its role in the Maltese economy goes beyond the mere provision of financial services; it also has responsibilities towards a number of other stakeholders such as shareholders, staff members, customers, the environment and the community at large.
Tonio Depasquale, CEO at Bank of Valletta said, “BOV’s Corporate Social Responsibility can be defined as the bank’s voluntary contribution to society. We are aware that our extensive operations are far-reaching and that we have a presence in practically every locality in Malta and Gozo. It is therefore our policy to integrate social and environmental concerns both in our business operations and in the interaction we have with our various stakeholders, this with a view of making a positive contribution to society in general”.
Examples of BOV’s involvement in the community include contributions made in the areas of art and culture, heritage, the environment, sports, education and the social sector.
This year, the bank contributed to the restoration of the St Catherine of Italy church in Valletta, the continuous improvement of local sports, the promotion of literacy, the fostering of educational skills as well as the preservation and enhancement of our natural habitat and environment.
