New Head Of Consumer Banking at Mediterranean Bank

Mediterranean Bank recently appointed Ray Calleja as Head of Consumer Banking.

Mr Calleja started out in banking with Mid-Med Bank in 1978, which was taken over by HSBC in 1999.

Mr Calleja occupied various managerial roles within the bank including the Debt Recoveries and Factoring Departments. He also worked as Premier Relationship Manager and later Senior Premier Relationship Manager, managing a small team of relationship managers looking after a portfolio of high net worth customers providing priority service to the bank’s best customers.

He joined Credit Europe Bank NV, Malta Branch in November 2007 heading the Retail Banking Unit, where he spearheaded the successful retail banking operation that opened in Malta offering savings and fixed term deposit accounts.

He has recently moved to Mediterranean Bank as Head of the Consumer Banking Unit. Mr Calleja has an honours degree in Financial Services from the University of Manchester and is an Associate of the Institute of Financial Services.

Mediterranean Bank is regulated by the MFSA and operates under the depositor compensation scheme established under the laws of Malta, which guarantees deposits up to e100,000 per person. The bank’s offices at 10 St Barbara Bastions, Valletta are open Monday to Friday during office hours and offer term deposit accounts in euro and other major currencies, savings and wealth management, as well as other related services.
