On 8 April, a conscientious resident of Santa Maria Estate reported two infected palm trees on Triq in-Nixxiegha to the Plant Health Department. In reply, she received a letter: “Thank you for the information. Action will be taken.”
Is it unreasonable to expect some action within a nine-month period, especially considering the number of palm trees in our area and the seriousness of this disease?
One other large infected palm tree on the main road, just outside Belle View, also remains ignored, although the public garden and roundabout close by is attended to weekly.
