GO customers benefit from in-flight roaming on certain flights operated by leading airlines that include among others Ryanair, British Airways, and Tap Portugal thanks to connectivity services offered by GO’s second in-flight roaming partner, OnAir. The service comes in the wake of the recently announced roaming service offered on flights operated by Emirates Airlines, Lufthansa German Airlines, Qantas Airways and Saudi Arabian Airlines – powered by AeroMobile, the other of GO’s two in-flight roaming partners.
GO customers can now use their mobile phones when flying with airlines operated by both of its in-flight partners – OnAir and AeroMobile. As a result of its newly set up international in-flight roaming service, GO gives customers the chance to keep in touch with family, friends and business associates even while travelling by air. As soon as the aircraft reaches a cruising altitude and in-flight staff have given the green light for the use of phones, GO post-paid customers can enjoy incoming and outgoing voice calls and SMS from their mobile phones. Outgoing voice calls for GO pre-paid mobile customers are not yet available.
“We are delighted to be in a position to offer GO mobile customers the convenience of staying connected even while they travel by air thanks to our in-flight roaming partners – OnAir and AeroMobile. In-flight connectivity, an add-on to GO’s extensive roaming service, further highlights GO’s drive towards maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction,” said Anthony Slater, GO Executive for International Roaming.
“By virtue of the technologically advanced systems of its two in-flight roaming partners worldwide, GO offers the best level of international roaming service of this type in the market – at par with international operators. GO boasts roaming agreements with over 430 operators and – what’s more – it has at least two 3G networks in several EU countries. GO’s international roaming service is available globally in 200 countries.”
GO reminds customers that while the company provides connection to the service for In-flight roaming, the actual availability of the In-flight service on a particular aircraft is the sole responsibility of the airline that manages the flight. Further, service permitted on the aircraft is also at the airline’s discretion and level of service falls entirely under its responsibility.
