Malta Independent Sunday, 24 January 2010, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

The Institute Of Directors (Malta Branch) has joined forces with the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry to create the Directors' Forum 2010, a series of fora that will address the key corporate issues that influence Maltese business performance.

This initiative has been taken by James Satariano, chairman of the IoD Malta and Helga Ellul, president of the Malta Chamber, and brings the competencies of both organisations together for the benefit of Malta's business community and to add a level of value-added for both IoD and Malta Chamber members. The new Directors' Forum will be concerned with corporate governance, the power of the Board, Board evaluation, maintaining family businesses, director's liability and Board branding.

Starting this month, every session will have a top international speaker. The fora will take place at the Exchange Buildings, the seat of the Malta Chamber. The first of these, Professor Bob Garratt, is a company director, consultant, author and academic working on corporate governance including the fields of board and director evaluation and performance, organisational change and strategic thinking issues. He is based in London and consults on five of the six continents. His consulting experience of board and business issues covers organisations from large corporates to family businesses, state-owned enterprises, professional practices, not-for-profits, central governments and local communities. Among other positions, he is a consultant on board evaluation and development issues, visiting Professor at the Cass Business School, City University, London. There, his work spans the Centres for Research in Corporate Governance, Leadership, Learning and Change, and Health Management.

Other international speakers for the Directors' Forum seminars are: Professor Bob Tricker, originator of modern day thinking on Corporate Governance, Anthony Griffiths, Peter Barrett as well as a large number of well-known, local business personalities.
