From time to time one or more letters appear in newspapers complaining about “harassment” like the hawking of timeshare. Not infrequently, one or more letters appear complaining about another type of unrequested hawking, what perhaps may be labelled “call centre harping” for different sales pitches, not least for banking services. In the USA, the FCC is proposing new restrictions to crack down on sales pitches by phone.
I am not for over regulation, nor for the curtailing of bona fide moderate telephone usage, but will we as usual tag behind in curtailing this invasion of our privacy or is there some who fear that this might add to the banners of the anti-censorship leftist fronts?
