The Malta Independent editorial on Wednesday 3 February which was entitled Hobson’s choice – Pilate’s hands clearly showed the reluctance of the big European countries to help address the problem of illegal immigration, which is threatening to destabilise our country.

The truth is that our European counterparts are conscious of the fact that this African exodus is without end, so they are afraid that in time they might end facing the same problem that is facing Malta now. So considering the fact that no real help is coming from our big European countries, Malta should act, now and fast before it’s too late. It’s a real big shame that all the political bodies on this island do not convene and come up with one concrete resolution regarding this problem, which in the very near future will prove to be our undoing. Malta should act to safeguard its own interests first and foremost. So to hell with all the eloquent lip service dished out by our EU counterparts, let’s do it our way.
