I would like to congratulate all the people who live in the areas of St Paul’s Bay, Bugibba, Qawra and Burmarrad for the interest shown in these areas.
On Sunday 31 January a council meeting was held at Burmarrad Church Hall to which all of four people bothered to turn up. I was one of these.
I would like to know where the rest of the residents were. I wonder who the person who wrote to the papers, asking why Qawra and Bugibba were not to get a mini council of their own, was. Maybe he was one of the two gentlemen who were there? If so, please accept my apologies.
Maybe I should not have been there? But as a permanent resident, I felt I should be.
Once more I put my point to the mayor and got the same reply as last year – lack of funds, or so it seems, and the area I live in does not get a facelift again.
As I told her, we went down this road last year. I also asked about the two hotels that have been closed for two years, three months. They are private concerns, so there is nothing she can do but get in touch with owners.
The reason I asked is because they are a cats’ paradise, Maybe just as well, as they are probably keeping the vermin down. Also there is a large plate glass window that has a large crack in it! It has masking tape down the length of it, but should this window get a knock, I hope I am not passing next to it.
