In their first attack Sliema went one up thanks to a slip by the Rabat defence allowing Lukas Plaehn to advance unhindered to hit past a hapless Ian Azzopardi.

Rabat’s reaction was immediate and it had to be Andrei Imbroll to clear off the line a James Azzopardi effort.

In the eighth minute Josef Antonelli was fouled inside the D and from the resultant penalty stroke Charlot Antonelli made no mistake.

On the 19th the same Antonelli paved the way for his brother Josef to put Rabat ahead. Eight minutes later Andrei Imbroll again cleared off the line another effort by James Azzopardi.

Just before the stroke of half time Azzopardi denied Steve Cachia from equalising for Sliema, with a well timed sortie.

After the resumption both teams won a couple of short corners each and on the 15th minute, Rabat went further ahead through one of these corners. Dylan Lentini failed to clear a harmless ball only for Branko Radjovic to be at hand to punish Sliema.

With the score 3-1 in their favour Rabat somewhat relaxed giving more space to their opponents and for this they paid a heavy price.

On the 60th minute Rabat conceded a penalty stroke which Domingo Minan Guterrez coolly converted.

Two minutes later Silvano Vassallo managed to fend off three Rabat defenders including the goalkeeper to plant the ball home (3-3).

Within three minutes Sliema went in front. Lucas Plaehn gathering the ball inside the 22 metre area forced his way down the left and from an acute angle beat Azzopardi.

In the last minute Lucas Plaehn obtained his hat trick when he pounced on a rebound off the goalkeeper’s pads following a short corner action.

By virtue of this win White Hart are now occupying second place in the league standings.

The first scoring chance fell to Marvin Vella of Young Stars who’s reverse hit just missed the target.

On the seventh minute it had to be Robert Vassallo Agius in White Hart’s goal to save a humdinger from Chris Attard.

After this initial onslaught by Floriana, White Hart settled down forcing a few short corners. In the 21st minute White Hart opened the score from a well executed short corner set piece, which saw David Agius deflecting the ball in the roof of the net following a hard hit across goal by Luke Borg Costanzi.

White Hart kept up the pressure and it had to be Floriana’s goalkeeper Waylin Abdilla to deny Paul Torpiano from adding another.

In the second half both teams shared the exchanges with Abdilla saving off Luke Borg Costanzi and on the other side Anthony Roberts saved off the line with Vassallo Agius beaten.

In a counter attack on the 61st minute White Hart could have put their mind at rest when Robert Bianchi watched his rising push shot sail over the bar with Abdilla caught out of position.

Floriana tried hard to salvage the game but they found a resilient White Hart defence.
