Mellieha SC-St Andrews 0-2
The first period was a balanced affair with the Saints going close early on through Michael Grima whose shot was saved by James Abela.
In the 11th minute Mellieha were close through Jeffrey Gauci and two minutes later the same player shot high when well placed.
At the other end the Mellieha keeper saved off a shot by Michael Valenzia and in the 21st minute a mistake by Mellieha’s defender Matthew Vella let in Saints’ striker Michael Calleja who was however foiled by Abela.
A minute later the Saints took the lead through an angled shot by Nicky Vella Petroni following a through-pass by William Camilleri.
Mellieha failed to make a reaction with the Saints going close on two occasions through Michael Calleja and Michael Grima.
After the break the Saints were the better team and after just two minutes Nicky Vella Petroni set free Michael Grima who however shot rather weakly into James Abela when all alone infront of goal. Mellieha responded through Rueben Vella whose shot was saved by Gauci with the Saints going close through Nicky Vella Petroni.
Then attempts by Michael Grima and Anatol Debono finished just wide and on 82 minutes the Mellieha keeper brought off a difficult save off a back-heel by Michael Calleja.
Five minutes later Saints’ striker Michael Grima rounded James Abela but with an open goal incredibly shot wide.
Three minutes into injury time the Saints sealed their win through Anatol Debono following good work by Grima.

Senglea Ath-Gzira U 0-1
Senglea were undoubtedly the better team during the first half and after just nine minutes a shot by Timmy Thomas was deflected to a corner-kick.
Then an attempt by Julian Spiteri was well saved by Keith Camilleri and in the 19th minute Timmy Thomas rounded Camilleri and shot at goal but the ball was cleared off the line by Andre White.
In the 24th minute Gzira won a corner-kick which was taken by Malcolm Sultana and Keith Bonello headed just wide.
Then Senglea were twice close through Jonathan Buttigieg but in the 39th minute the Maroons took the lead through a low angled shot by James Tabone following good work by Keith Bonello. Just before the break Senglea hit the post off a Buttigieg direct free-kick.
Three minutes after the restart Senglea had a shot by Nazzareno Abela which finished just wide while Gzira came back through James Tabone whose effort was saved by George Attard.
In the 57th minute Gzira won a free-kick which was taken by Josef Felice and Nico Corito headed just over the bar and at the other end Senglea were denied by Camilleri off a Jonathan Buttigieg free-kick.
In the 70th minute Gzira were close through Steve Gatt following good work by Josef Felice with play then resulting in the midfield sector.
Four minutes from time Senglea ended with 10 players when Jonathan Buttigieg was sent off for retaliation and in injury time Senglea could have grabbed the equaliser but Julian Spiteri’s shot was parried by Keith Camilleri.

Gharghur-Rabat A 0-3
Rabat Ajax dominated the first half and early on they were close through Alan Zahra and Chris Schembri.
In the 11th minute the Gharghur keeper brought off an excellent save to deny Adam Smeir and in the 28th minute an Alan Zahra free-kick just missed the target.
Rabat continued to push forward with Emanuel Muscat losing a clear opportunity and in the 31st minute a free-kick by Smeir was saved with difficulty by Aquilina.
Rabat’s pressure paid off in the 34th minute when an Emanuel Muscat free-kick was not cleared by the Gharghur defence and in came Justin Felice to shoot in past Aquilina.
A minute later Gharghur were denied by Azzopardi off a shot by Shaun Vella but Rabat increased their lead in the 37th minute through Adam Smeir who scored with a low shot.
In the 43rd minute Rabat made it 3-0 with Justin Felice crossing from the right flank and Alan Zahra headed in from close-range.
After the break Gharghur improved their performance and after four minutes they were denied by Azzopardi off a free-kick taken by Alan Spiteri.
Rabat responded through shots by Adam Smeir and David Azzopardi which were saved by Aquilina with Gharghur going close on the hour through Daniel Cremona.
In the 70th minute the Gharghur keeper came out of his goal to anticipate the advancing Justin Felice and 10 minutes later Gharghur’s striker Alan Spiteri was denied by the Rabat keeper.
Three minutes from time Rabat missed a clear opportunity through Justin Felice with Adam Smeir doing the same in added time.

St Venera L-Gozo FC 3-1
St Venera gained the initiative during the first period but they were rather confused up front.
They were close after just three minutes through Kevin Vella and in the 27th minute a shot by Alistair Camilleri was well saved by Darren Pace.
Then Alan Ellul hit wide from the edge of the penalty area but on 34 minutes they took the lead with Mark Grech shooting in from close-range from a Gareth Magri corner-kick.
The Gozitans reacted strongly and drew level five minutes later as Mario Azzopardi headed in past Agius.
In the 42nd minute the Gozitans lost a clear opportunity through John Camilleri and a minute later St Venera regained the lead through Alistair Camilleri whose shot hit the post before finishing in the back of the net.
After the break the Gozitans did the attacking but the first opportunity belonged to St Venera who were close through George Falzon.
In the 51st minute Gozo had a cross by Mario Mifsud which was headed just wide by Moutalib Abdul and a minute later they missed an open opportunity with John Camilleri shooting wide infront of goal.
On the hour a dangerous shot by Michael Bezzina was deflected by a St Venera defender and nine minutes later a strong volley by John Camilleri was splendidly saved by John Agius.
In the 74th minute Agius again came to St Venera’s rescue with a save off a shot by Michael Bezzina and despite the Gozitans’ sustained pressure, it was the Lightnings who managed to score a third goal in the 89th minute through substitute Max Ebejer following a through-pass by Alistair Camilleri.
