Malta Independent Wednesday, 17 February 2010, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Local football club Qormi is organising a children’s Campus with the collaboration of Italian Serie A side AC Fiorentina.

Club president Matthew Fenech, Qormi mayor Jesmond Aquilina and Tropicana Juices representative Cynthia Caruana, announced the details during a news conference yesterday.

The decision to stage the Campus in Malta was taken recently during a visit by Sandro Mencucci and Alberto Bollini, Fiorentina CEO and Fiorentina nurseries head coach respectively.

The Campus is to be staged on a national level and will be held at the De la Salle College grounds at Cottonera because works for the upgrading of the Qormi pitch are in hand at present.

The Campus will be under the charge of Bollini and other professional Italian coaches. A seminar for local coaches, with lectures by Bollini, is to be held during the Campus, for which details will be issued later.

Mr Aquilina congratulated Qormi FC for this initiative and said the local council was glad to be subsidising the participation of Qormi children at the Campus.

On her part, Ms Caruana said the company was glad to be associated with Qormi FC on this initiative.

The Campus will be open to children born between 1995 and 2003. All those parents interested in sending their children to participate in the Campus are to phone 9987 1985 or send an e-mail to [email protected]
