Your daily’s back page (Monday 22 February) picture and write up about the natural calamity in the Portuguese Atlantic islands should strike a chord in each one of us regarding the frailty of the human race in the face of the forces of nature.

Another chord that should resonate in our hearts is that despite the opposition of thousands of medical personnel, the Church and hundreds of thousands of citizens, the Portuguese leftist government still enacted Christian moral breaking legislation which is seeing the death toll rise not to 40, as in Madeira, but into the thousands.

The victims are innocents who have not even had the opportunity to feel the ground ever beneath their tiny feet, or drops of water in baptism.
