Your editorial ‘The blurring of lines’ on the Greek debacle made fine reading (TMID, 5 March).

If I may react to and link another news item which appeared in the same edition, I would say that rather than taking to task Maltese politicians for fairly acknowledging the need for the continuation of a hundreds of years old tradition, the Greens through their allies in the European Parliament should make the Eurocrats pay fines for allowing so much statistical fraud in the case of Greece (as well as in some of the EU’s own accounts).

That would be safeguarding honest taxpayers from forking out more for bureaucrats misdeeds.
