The new, state-of-the-art Domestica showroom that is due to open in the next few months has been featured in a specialised, international publication compiled by celebrated Italian architect Enzo Eusebi. Eusebi, who created the architectural concept for this showroom himself, is hailed both for his technical mastery and his creative approach.
The publication, entitled Non Solo, presents a carefully chosen collection of Eusebi’s most intriguing works, among which there is the new Domestica showroom, which will serve to showcase some of the top home interior brands available in Malta. The 3,000 square metre showroom will incorporate extensive display areas, a show apartment and parking facilities only 200 metres away from Domestica’s current premises in Valley Road, Msida.
“Enzo Eusebi is renowned for his ability to combine technical expertise and creativity. This will also be the hallmark of our new showroom. As part of Domestica’s brand portfolio, we show the most exclusive home brands available in Malta, such as the famed Kartell, Berloni, Guzzini and the recently-acquired sofa brand Nicoletti, among others. Eusebi’s creation is a fitting home for these brands,” said Domestica managing director Chris Vassallo. Describing the showroom in his book, Eusebi explains how the concept had to work with, and complement, the residential surroundings of Msida. In a sneak preview of the landmark building, the book reveals details of large, macro-eye window chisels and a daring, oblique façade. Eusebi is a native of Italy’s Marche region and is considered the standard bearer of a new style of architectural culture, a halfway house between the Italian provinces and the broad stage of China’s megalopolis. Together with his work group, Nothing Studio, he has built up an impressive portfolio of experience in different fields, ranging from architecture to urban planning, product design and interior design.
“The showroom is now in its final stages of construction and passers-by can already get a hint of Eusebi’s vision when he designed the structure. The inauguration will help us streamline our operations during this period of envisaged growth and will also bring together under one roof a dedicated team of professionals who will take care of all our clients’ needs,” added Mr Vassallo Cesareo.
Francesca Cassar, business development director for Domestica, explained that the new showroom will comprise three floors and has been designed with an eco-friendly approach in mind.
“The ground floor will offer visitors a comprehensive living room experience, while an intermediate floor is totally dedicated to children’s and adults’ bedrooms. The first floor will show Domestica’s collection of kitchens and a shop-in-shop concept for brands of accessories, table and kitchenware and bed linen. The second floor will be dedicated to Domestica’s manufacturing arm and will be reserved for corporate clients.”
After the opening of the showroom, Domestica is expected to continue expanding its brand line-up, always in line with the parameters of style and quality for which the company is renowned. Founded by Leo Vassallo Cesareo over 40 years ago, today Domestica offers a wide-ranging, all-you-need-for-your-home solution, thanks to a collection of high-end international furniture brands. The brand portfolio also includes Casamia furniture, Steelcase office furniture, Fatboy and Guzzini accessories, and Wanabo and Indel B wine cellars.
