For what purpose and to what extent my post-convention comments will serve to ameliorate a perceived forthcoming course of events following this assemblage of Maltese living abroad, at least I feel sufficiently optimistic that someone, at some time, has noted my individual contribution to the overall debate by having included me as a keynote speaker.

It saddens me though, to the depths of iniquitous disdain, that those “in the know” always seem to drag the “knowing” majority through the political corridors, away from the profundities that matter.

The convention can be seen as a success from the point of view of having brought together so many different ideas from various quarters of the globe. The well intended resolutions also are promising. Follow-up action is sorely needed and anticipated.

What concerns me to the umpteenth degree is the need for all concerned to distinguish the “political” from the “ethical”. This is essential for true progress from hereon.
