On Saturday 27 March The Westin Dragonara Resort joined over 100 Starwood hotels across Europe, Africa and the Middle East in a powerful global message about environmental awareness and caring for our planet during Earth hour. The Westin Dragonara Resort took energy-saving measures for one full hour, between 8.30 and 9.30pm by switching off all non essential lighting and reducing all lighting in public areas. These areas included: balcony lights, pool areas, dimming the lights in all restaurants and switching off the façade.
Environmental awareness at the Westin is continually being adhered to by implementing a number of initiatives to enhance energy saving processes. A Green council has recently been introduced in the company, made up from a number of associates who together have implemented specific projects such as; ‘Green Room’, the Reverse Osmosis Plant, in-house waste separation, paper recycling, power factor corrector and using energy saving lighting and appliances. This year the company will also be investing in new energy and water saving equipment to further reduce the carbon footprint.
